BrickLink Designer Program Series 9: Final Five Sets and Pricing Revealed
LEGO confirmed the final five sets in BrickLink Designer Program Series 9 this week, with pre-orders opening 6 October and closing 12 October. Each design needs at least 3,000 pre-orders to go into production, with shipping not expected before March 2027.
The line-up ranges from the 4,027-piece Fisherman’s Village (£319.99) down to the compact 613-piece Pumpkin Patch (£44.99), with Sleepy Dragon Inn, Wild West Blacksmith and Woodbrick Freight Depot filling out the middle ground. Designers earn a 5% royalty on net sales, plus five free copies of the finished product if their set is greenlit.
Our take: This is the BrickLink programme at its best, proper fan-designed builds with genuine building-technique interest rather than licensed spin-offs. New Icons Set: Bookshop Book Nook Announced
LEGO officially announced Icons set 11379 Bookshop: Book Nook this week, priced at £119.99/$149.99 for 1,690 pieces and releasing 1 October. The shop opens up to reveal a detailed interior, complete with a spiral staircase leading to a balcony.
Why it matters: Book Nooks have become one of the fastest-growing display categories for adult collectors, and this is a strong follow-up to the now-retiring Sherlock Holmes Book Nook (see below).
LEGO Ideas Review Round Closes In On the “Magic 100”
The second LEGO Ideas review round of 2026 picked up steam this week, with projects including Ultraviolence – Lana Del Rey and Bird House crossing the 10,000-supporter threshold to bring the round to 91 qualifying projects ahead of the 7 September cutoff. Other notable entries included a 4,732-piece Blue Dragon of the East and a Leaning Tower of Pisa build.
Why it matters: A round this size means stiffer competition for a review slot, but also a genuinely wide spread of fan concepts headed for consideration. Review results aren’t expected until spring 2027, so it’s a long wait to find out which of these go on to become official sets (this round has already outpaced the 97-project round we covered back in June).
Which Sets Are Retiring This Month
Brick Fanatics’ September retirement update flagged several prized adult-focused sets, including the Ideas River Steamboat and Botanical Garden, the Icons Sherlock Holmes Book Nook and Natural History Museum, and the Technic Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line. Himeji Castle is the only Architecture set on this year’s list.
Why it matters: If any of these have been on your wishlist, this is your reminder to buy before they disappear. The Sherlock Holmes Book Nook and Natural History Museum in particular tend to hold their value well once retired.
Harry Potter Ministry of Magic Hits General Release
The 3,491-piece Ministry of Magic Collectors’ Edition (76476) moved to general release on 1 September at £389.99/$449.99, following Insiders early access in late August. The 25th-anniversary set stands roughly 51cm tall, includes 14 minifigures, and comes with a new Kingsley Shacklebolt Lynx Patronus element.
Why it matters: It’s easily one of the priciest and most ambitious adult-targeted sets of the year. Insiders who bought before 6 September also picked up a free Ministry of Magic Phone Booth as a gift with purchase.
